We’ve all seen the voluptuous, perfect hair of the celebrities – so full of bounce, so full of life…so full! Often these beautiful locks are given a little boost with the help of hair extensions. And often, as with many beauty products out there, the information available and seemingly endless options that exist can be incredibly overwhelming. So, what are some quick key points you should know before considering extensions?
First and foremost, there are different types of hair extensions.
• Synthetic –made with plastic fibers, that are made to resemble human hair.
• Non-remy – While this is human hair, it is often pieces of different hairs pieces together and can also include strands of animal hair.
• Remy – 100% human hair.
If you are looking to purchase hair extensions, the remy type is the best choice. But, even with this all human hair option, there are different qualities you must consider.
• Low quality remy – the cheapest option, but for a reason. While it is all human hair, the extensions are made without the cuticle intake. They are often coated with a sort of protectant that gives the appearance of not-cut hair, which will fade quicker leaving you with matted hair.
• High quality remy – the option will have the cuticle intake, which is an important factor for achieving natural looking hair. The extensions will be healthier looking and last longer.
• Virgin remy – the most expensive option, but with good reason. This type is treated with extreme care from manufacturing to delivery, using zero harsh processing or chemicals.
When considering hair extensions, human hair extensions will have an immediate advantage over synthetic. The texture, touch, and shine will be the most accurate and natural to give you that full look, just like the celebrities.
